Research
Carmanah Management has invested substantially in the following research:
Takaya: Lone Wolf
A study of a solitary wolf living on Discovery Island (just offshore of Victoria, BC, Canada). His adaptations to the marine environment, as well as interactions with human visitors at the edge of an urban area have been of great ecological interest. Wildlife photographer Cheryl Alexander’s years of building a relationship with Takaya culminated in a 2019 Nature of Things documentary, airing in Canada on the CBC and on the BBC in the United Kingdom.
The Third Server
Searching for the medium of group intelligence in social insects, who build structures of great complexity, and in migrating animals such as the monarch butterfly, who exhibit map sense, as opposed to a simple compass.
